Amphitheatre of St. Maria Capua

Santa Maria Capua Vetere, Italy (IT)
The amphitheatre of St. Maria Capua Vetere contains many years of history. It was built under Augustus and was restored by Hadrian and Antonius Puis. The amphitheatre measures 170x140 meters, second in size only the Colosseum in Rome. An interesting subterranean Mithraeum with well-preserved frescoes is located nearby as well.
