Andretti Autosport is an auto racing team owned by former IndyCar driver Michael Andretti. It competes in the Verizon IndyCar Series, Firestone Indy Lights, Star Mazda Championship, and the FIA Formula E Championship.
In 2014, Andretti Autosport has four full-time IndyCar teams. Marco Andretti (Michael's son), James Hinchcliffe, Ryan Hunter-Reay, and rookie Carlos Muñoz. A fifth car was fielded for the two events at Indianapolis with Franck Montagny racing on the road course, and NASCAR veteran Kurt Busch racing in the Indy 500.
Michael is the son of racing legend Mario Andretti, who is actively involved with the team and the sport.
The race team was founded in 1993 and was known as Forsythe Green Racing after co-owners Barry Green and Gerry Forsythe. Green took sole ownership the next year and renamed it Team Green. In 2003, Andretti bought the majority stake in the team and renamed it Andretti Green Racing. Green left after the 2009 season, and the team became Andretti Autosport.
