Apalachee council house (recreation)

The council house is a recreation of an Apalachee Indian structure that once stood nearby.

The Spanish erected a Franciscan Mission near the settlement of the Apalachee Indians in an effort to colonize and convert. Today the area known as Mission San Luis is on the National Register of Historic Places.
