The origins of industries Merloni back early in the twentieth century. We are in the 30s, Aristide Merloni, son of farmers and the future founder of the family, start with little more than fifty workers, the production of receiver. The activity took off in just over a decade and in 1954 founded the company Co.Me.Sa., with which begins production of LPG cylinders.

In 1966 the first line of home appliances under the Ariston brand. Two years later, Antonio, one of four children of Aristide, based Ar.Do. (Home furnishings), a company dedicated to the production of washing machines for hire or reward, established in the factory "Santa Maria", in Fabriano.

The group specializes in the production of white undertaken: refrigerators, freezers and dishwashers (at the establishment of Gaifana, Umbria), front loading washing machines and washer-dryer (on its production of "St. Mary") and down-loading washing machines 'high and dryers (establishment of "Maragone", Fabriano).


In the 90 years are outlined strategies that will lead the company to current levels dimensional and productive: the company changed its name and becomes Antonio Merloni SpA (1990) and starts the process of "Europeanisation", with the acquisition of commercial companies in Spain (newPolar), Holland (Frenk), England (Servis Ltd). Even the production sites are increasing: in 1995 Antonio Merloni SpA Tecnogas SpA acquired the company, now a leader on the Italian market for the production and marketing, private label, ovens and cookers.

In 2002, Antonio Merloni S.p.A. reaches the fifth place in Europe in the production of household appliances.

In 2009 the company was virtually bankrupt and the workers occupied in November 2009, in protest, the headquarters
