South Reef, part of North Danger Reef, is one of the Spratly Islands contested by Viet Nam, China, Taiwan, Philippines and Malaysia. It is controlled by Viet Nam who have built a concrete outpost to stake their claim. The reef is above water only at low tide. Vietnamese name of the reef is Da Nam.
