The Bamburgh Castle memorial is in a hollowed out niche below the castle and takes the form of a Portland stone crucifix cross that has a square base upon which is mounted a plinth and pedestal that hold the shaft of the cross.

The dedicatory inscription is on the front face of the plinth and the bronze plaques containing the names of the fallen are inset into the rock behind. A wreath has been carved in relief at the base of the cross. There are 20 names for World War I and 15 for World War II.

The memorial was originally unveiled by Lord Armstrong and dedicated by local clergymen and dignitaries 15th May 1921.
