Bastione di Saint Remy

Bastione di Saint Remy

Cagliari, Italy (IT)
The Bastione di San Remy was a protective wall around the city and is still partially intact from its earlier days . The Bastion boasts a monumental flight of steps leading up to an impressive panoramic square and is a beautiful example of the architecture from the period of Umberto I. The panoramic terrace on top of it is dedicated to king Umberto I; it can be reached through a double flight of steps (parallel to which runs, on the last part, an entrance hall, known as ”the covered promenade“ where temporary exhibitions and events are held). Since being renovated in the 19th century, it features a fantastic view of the entire city. It is open to Piazza of Constitution and has good views: From the terrace, you can see the eastern part of the city, the small towns in the Campidiano area, the Balice bastions, the harbour and the Angeli Gulf.
