Original site of the home of Benjamin Banneker, the first African American man of science. A great friend of the Ellicott family, he is credited for surveying the boundaries of Washington, DC. He also published almanacs in the 1790's. Museum dedicated to life and works of nationally renowned African-American surveyor, scientist, writer, farmer of the 18th century; and friend of the Ellicott family who founded Ellicott City.
