"Artefact" at: 54.208333,-3.252251 - Following the closure of Millom Ironworks, the last remains of the contents of the blast furnace were left as a large plug of iron and slag mix. The 'plug' now forms a feature on the Millom Ironworks Nature Reserve.

The ironworks covered much of the local area but very few of the buildings remain. Many miles of railway track have also long since gone - connecting the ironworks to both the nearby iron ore mines at Hodbarrow and the main rail network
