The Microsoft founder and America's richest man purchased this home after renting it during the 2013 equestrian season in Wellington, FL. His daughter is an equestrian. However, in October 2020, the ownership of the property was transferred to Rhone Inc, a Church Religious Organization, for a nominal amount of $200. Gates held ownership of the property through the "Mallet Hill Trust," with William P. McCaughan acting as the Trustee. At the time of the deed transfer, the estimated value of the property was approximately $7.8 million. As of 2023, the property has appreciated in value to around $9.69 million. This generous act can be viewed as a significant and commendable charitable contribution.
