Gates held ownership of the property through the "Mallet Hill Trust," with William P. McCaughan acting as the Trustee. At the time of the deed transfer, the estimated value of the property was approximately $7.8 million. As of 2023, the property has appreciated in value to around $9.69 million. This generous act can be viewed as a significant and commendable charitable contribution.
