Operated by Rio Tinto from 1971-89. During that time it was one of the largest Open Pit Mines in the world. Mostly Copper with some Gold & Silver. Large alluvial fan of mine tailings to the southwest.

Numerous pieces of abandoned equipment visible. At least 40 haul trucks and a couple of draglines.

The main buildings look like the metal roof & wall materials has been removed.

Closed by local protests & power cut.
