CLARK, William Smith, born in Ash-field, Massachusetts, 31 July, 1826; died in Amherst, 9 March, 1886, was a professor, Massachusetts State Senator, founder and first functioning president of the Massachusetts Agricultural College (now the University of Massachusetts Amherst) and president of Sapporo Agricultural College.
