Pfeifler is an managing director of Morgan Stanley who is married to Emilia Fanjul, the daughter of sugar baron Jose "Pepe" Fanjul, the Vice Chairman and president of Flo-Sun, a family-owned sugar growing and refining company, and of Florida Crystals in West Palm Beach, which is the majority owner of Domino Sugar. The 2 met at a party thrown by Diane von Fürstenberg in New York in 1998.
