After winning the NHL's Stanley Cup as a member of the Carolina Hurricanes in 2006, veteran forward Rod Brind'Amour brought the Cup back to his hometown. After a parade before thousands of area fans, the mayor announced that a street in a new subdivision would be named in Brind'Amour's honor.
