Dennis Lynn Rader (aka) BTK killer or the BTK strangler was an American serial killer who viciously murdered 10 people in Wichita, Kansas from 1974-1991. He was finally arrested in 2005 and is currently serving 10 consecutive life sentences at El Dorado Correctional Facility, with an earliest possible release date of February 26, 2180.

His moniker of BTK was also his method of killing-- Bind, Torture, and Kill.

On September 16, 1986, Rader posing as a telephone repair man knocked on Vicki Wegerle's door and asked if he could check her telephone lines inside the home. Once inside the home Rader pretended to check the telephone lines and when Vicki wasn't looking, Rader drew a pistol and directed her to the bedroom. He then tied her up with material he found inside the home but the binds broke during the struggle and she began to fight for her life. Rader says she fought quite a bit. In court Rader says he was finally able to subdue her and got a nylon stocking and proceeded to strangle her. Wegerle, 28 had her son with her at the time of the murder, he was not harmed. At the time, police didn't know it she was killed by the BTK killer and began to investigate her husband for the murder. It wasn't until 16 years later police discovered she was the victim of BTK.
