TV executive producer Carter Bays, who created CBS’ “How I Met Your Mother,” has paid $1,285,000 for a 1,768-square-foot California bungalow-style single-family house in Los Angeles’ Spaulding Square neighborhood, according to public records.

Bays, at one time was a writer for David Letterman. The home was built in 1919 and originally listed for $1,299,000. Bays’ new one-story, three-bedroom house has a wood-burning fireplace in the living room, hardwood floors, and a newly built garage, according to listing information.
