Changing Gears is a non-profit community bike shop which grew out of a partnership between Cycles of Change and Alameda Point Collaborative. The community bike shop has accomplished a great deal with the support of both organizations. In the past four years, the shop has provided job training for formerly homeless Alameda Point Collaborative residents, diverted many tons of waste from the landfill, refurbished thousands of bikes, provided volunteer and earn-a-bike opportunities for children and adults, lead bicycle field trips for more than 100 Alameda Point Collaborative youth and transformed its warehouse space into a thriving community center.
