Chinese installation on Mischief Reef

Chinese installation on Mischief Reef

China (CN)
Mischief Reef is one of the Spratly Islands contested by Viet Nam, China, Taiwan, Philippines and Malaysia. It was discovered by Henry Spratly in 1791 and named by the German sailor Heribert Mischief, one of his crew. It is controlled by China who built a small installation in 1998 to stake their claim but officially to shelter fishermen. China's occupation of Mischief Reef created a political crisis in Southeast Asia in 1999, especially with the Philippines.
