Former NHL tough guy Chris Simon had a street in his hometown renamed in his honour in 2006. The road passes by the local ice arena.

Simon began his pro career in 1992 and made his NHL debut later that season with the Quebec Nordiques. After the team relocated to Denver, he spent one season with the Colorado Avalanche, where he was a member of the Stanley Cup champions.

The next season, he was traded to the Washington Capitals, where he played for six seasons. The next five seasons saw him dress with the Chicago Blackhawks, New York Rangers, Calgary Flames, New York Islanders, and Minnesota Wild.

In 2008, he took his career to the KHL Russian league, where he still plays today.
