Christel DeHaan is a German immigrant who moved to the US in her early twenties. She married Jon DeHaan, founder of time-share firm Resort Condominiums International (RCI). Upon their divorce, she was awarded half the firm. Two years later, she bought out her husband's half to give herself 100% ownership.
In 1996, DeHaan sold RCI to HFS (now Cendant) for $825 million. She owns this massive waterfront home in Indianapolis.
Dehaan founded Christel House International, a non-profit foundation which operates schools for impoverished children around the world.
