Circus of Cyrene

Cyrene is an ancient Roman city located in modern-day Libya. The city was originally an ancient Greek settlement. It was the oldest and most important of five Greek cities in the region. The city became a Roman Province in 74 BC.

Most of the ruins of the city can be viewed today. These include baths, several houses, a temple dedicated to Zeus, a circus for racing chariots and many more features.

Not much of the circus remains, but from the sky, you can see the outline of it. It is located slightly away from the main set of ruins and is located right behind the Temple of Zeus.

The whole area is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
