Columbia Speedway

Columbia Speedway

Cayce, South Carolina (SC), US
This 1/2 mile stock car racing oval track operated from 1932-77. Originally, it was a clay track and was paved after the 1970 season. It held 43 NASCAR Grand National events from 1951-71, with Richard Petty winning seven times. Petty's first career start came here in 1958, as he finished 6th in a convertible.

Update -
Since I posted this map in 2008, members of the community worked together to revitalize this historic property. Trees and brush were removed, turning the land into a multi-use community center, while honoring the history of the race track. The land has hosted concerts, festivals, outdoor movies, car shows, and various private parties.
