Cozumel (Yucatec Maya: Kùutsmil) is an island & municipality in the Caribbean Sea off the eastern coast of the Yucatán Peninsula, opposite Playa del Carmen. It's separated from the mainland by the Cozumel Channel & is close to the Yucatán Channel, within the Mexican state of Quintana Roo.
