David Stirling (November 15, 1915 – November 4, 1990) was a Scottish mountaineer and officer in the British Army from 1937 to 1945. Stirling is considered the founder of the Special Air Service (SAS).
The statue was completed in 2002 by Angela Conner and is located on the Hill Of Row outside Stirling's ancestral home.
