Davidge Hall, named for Dr. John Beale Davidge the first dean and founder of the University of Maryland School of Medicine, was constructed in 1812 and designated as a National Historic Landmark by the U.S. Department of the Interior in 1997, It is considered to be the founding building of the University System of Maryland.
