Don Hugh Henley was born in Gilmer, Texas on July 22, 1947. After growing up in Linden, Texas, Don went to college in 1965. He attended Stephen F. Austin State University for two years and then transferred to North Texas State University in 1967. Don left college soon after to return home to help care for his ailing father. Don started playing music in 1964 and formed his first band, which, after several name changes, ended up being called Shiloh. Soon after recording their self-titled album, Shiloh broke up. In 1971, Don met Glenn Frey while they were both members of Linda Ronstadt’s back-up band. After meeting a few other members of the back-up band, Randy Meisner and Bernie Leadon, the band, The Eagles, was formed. The band was together from 1971 – 1980 and reformed in 1994. They are currently still together, although the recent death of Glenn Frey may affect the band going forward. They released their first album in 1972 and have gone on to sell over 150 million albums worldwide, win 6 Grammys, have 6 number 1 albums and were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1998.

Don Henley is also an acclaimed solo artist with album sales over 10 million and 2 Grammys. On September 25, 2015, Don released his first solo album in years. Titled Cass County, the album is a collection of music obscurities surrounded by new songs written and recorded in Dallas and Nashville. Don lives in Dallas with his wife Sharon and their three kids.
