Duke Street Electricity Sub-station

Duke Street Electricity Sub-station

London, United Kingdom (GB)
The Duke Street electricity sub-station, built in 1906, is part underground and part above ground. From above, the elegance of this sub-station cannot be appreciated as it just looks like a garden in the centre of some buildings. In Streetview the efforts made by the architect to disguise the sub-station can be fully appreciated. The gardens atop the sub-station re-opened in 2014 with a new, modern looking cafe included. Just south of Oxford Street this is a location that is both quiet and peaceful.
