Edward J. Frey Jr. is an heir to the Union Bank and Trust Company fortune (the institution founded by his grandfather in 1918). He owns the Traverse Bay Country Club. His father served as its CEO. Ed Sr. recognized the significance of the postwar boom in mobile home sales and founded the Foremost Insurance Company. The successful company specialized in insuring mobile homes and recreational vehicles. Ed Sr. also founded the Frey Foundation, one of the largest family foundations in Michigan.
