"England expects that every man will do his duty" was the signal Admiral Horatio Nelson sent from his flagship just before the battle of Trafalgar began. The battle of Trafalgar was a crucial battle in Europe's fight against Napoleonic aggression and the results were instrumental in Napoleon's eventual defeat.

Nelson was shot and killed in battle, associating Nelson all the more with the critical victory. Many monuments were errected in honor of Nelson and his victory at Trafalgar. This picture comes from one such monument, London's famous Trafalgar Square.
