These are forest fires in Siberia. They're pretty common, ignited via both natural and man-made causes. Fires are currently burning in central Russia; you can see satellite photos here: http://earthobservatory.nasa.gov/NaturalHazards/natural_hazards_v2.php3?img_id=12995 |
