Eugene Civic Stadium

Eugene Civic Stadium

Eugene, Oregon (OR), US
Home of the Eugene Emeralds baseball team. They are a Class A team in the Northwest League, and have been a farm team of the San Diego Padres since 2001.

Civic Stadium began to take shape in the summer of 1938. The configuration at that time included an uncovered wooden structure able to seat 5,000. A roof would come soon after. The stadium was to have been just a part of a larger project that was to develop much of the surrounding area. A multiuse park including a swimming pool, basketball and volleyball courts and a track was projected for the areas around the park, but the larger vision never materialized.
