Located just below the Grimsel Pass near Handegg, Switzerland, the Funicular railway known as 'The Gelmer Bahn' was built during the construction of the Gelmer dam and its Power Station. It started operating in 1926 and is 1,028 meters in length with an ascent of 450 metres.
