After being drafted by the Edmonton Oilers in 1996, he made his NHL debut with the Oilers on January 8, 2003. In the 2006 playoffs, Pisani raised his game to a new level, scoring 14 goals in 24 games. He became the first player to score a short-handed overtime goal in Stanley Cup Final history.

In July 2012, his home made the news after some of his neighbors complained about his project of building a backyard ice rink for his children. Plans for the 49x89 feet rink feature permanent boards, glass, and six light poles. A decision to allow the rink to be built came weeks after the complaints were filed.
