Seattle disputes this, but according to Wikipedia, the world's first purpose built gas station was constructed in St. Louis, Missouri in 1905 at 412 S. Theresa Avenue.

Yes, I really like these finds too, they're like little nuggets of gold.

I spend a lot of time trolling the maps and occasionally looking up interesting things tat lead to a great find like this, but they are rare...

I use a lot of maps in my work, I'm kind of a nut for sat and topo maps...
