The Folk Music Center is a museum, store, repair shop and workshop. The store was opened in 1958 and is run today by Ellen Chase, Ben Harper's mother. The shop was frequented by artists like Leonard Cohen, Taj Mahal, John Darinelle and David Lindley.
Ellen and Ben recorded an album, "Childhood Home" released on May 6, 2014.
Ellen is a Ph.D and talented multi-instrumentalist.
