Forbidden Gardens is a scaled composite of several Imperial Chinese historic sites, recreated in the plains of Texas. Included in this sprawling attraction are 6,000 terra-cotta soldiers, arrayed as they were found in China in 1974, when Emperor Qin's tomb was excavated. The third century BC archeological site is recreated in the Texas soil at 1/3 scale. Also at Forbidden Gardens is a replica of the Forbidden City in Beijing in a 1/20 scale, with hundreds of figurines, under a 40,000 square canopy. Construction of the attraction was started in 1995, and is a project of a Seattle and Hong Kong-based businessman named Ira Pun.
