Former Aldwych Tramway Station

Former Aldwych Tramway Station (StreetView)
The Aldwych Tram Station was part of the Kingsway Tram Underpass in London. The underpass was a subway-like system for trams under Kingsway, a busy road in central London.

The station opened 24th February 1906 and closed 6th April 1952. The station closed when the decision to withdraw the tram services in London and replace them with buses.

The station had a low island platform with one track on each side.

What's left today:
Not much of the station or the tunnels are left. The Strand Underpass that was built in 1964 now occupies the site. However the site is reachable from the Southampton Row Ramp. Otherwise the station site has been lost under the Strand Underpass ramp leading back up to Kingsway.
