The grassy ruins of a fort that served, along with York Redoubt, as a key element of harbour defence from 1888 to the Second World War. In summer, the island is accessible by private ferry from Cable Wharf in downtown Halifax.
This National Historic Site of Canada is part of the Halifax Defence Complex.
