5 Regiment des Helicoptres de Combat (5RHC), which is situated at Pau in the foothills of the Pyrenees Mountains.

The unit has a posted strength of about 700 personnel. It is equipped with two Gazelle helicopter squadrons and two Puma squadrons. 5RHC also has its own support squadrons, which directly support the helicopter squadrons.

In the unit there is also an organic commando platoon which is responsible for the recovery of downed pilots and equipment.
