Gene Van Dyke founded Van Dyke Energy Company (a/k/a Vanco Energy Company) in 1996 and serves as Chief Executive Officer and President.
He has spent $30 million to lease government-owned frontier acreage in Gabon, Equatorial Guinea, Senegal, Namibia, the Ivory Coast and the waters around Madagascar on the east side of the continent. His Houston-based Vanco Energy has 27 million acres of exploration and drilling rights in the area–more deepwater rights than Shell, ExxonMobil and BP combined.
He's recently listed his 11,737 sqft Houston home for sale for $14.5M. The property features three separate pools, one of which is one of the largest private residential pools in the world.
