George Jones' House (former): Pics and Stories

Back in 2006, I was out driving around Nashville looking at celebrity real estate. After going by Kix Brooks' house on Harpeth Ridge Drive, we ended up coming down Heathrow Blvd. and got stopped at this home behind a Gray Line "Homes of the Stars" tour bus. Since then, I had always wondered who lived there. When I was younger, my parents had taken me on the Gray Line tour and they purchased a book they sold with some photos of the homes on the tour. Once I dug that out of a drawer, it looked a lot like what appeared to be a former home of country music legend George Jones. Upon returning to Nashville on May 1st, 2008 (with the old Gray Line tour book in hand), I was finally able to confirm that this was the former mansion of the "Possum". I do not know the years he lived here. Williamson County records only go back until about the late 90's (at the time of this post) and I don't see his name or a trustee anywhere on record, so it was sometime before 1998, but that is all I know. It was sad to see that it had been ravaged by fire and the lawn was all grown up when I drove by and took the photo. The 2nd photo was taken on Sunday, September 28, 2008. The house had apparently been torn completely down since I was last there on May 1, 2008. I'm glad I got a final picture of it.
