The George R. Newell House was built for George R. Newell, a Baltimore-based attorney in 1885. His family lived in the home until 1970.
The original home was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1975, but the new owners demolished the home, built condos on the property, and built a replica of the original home on the property.
