German Cathedral is a cathedral located in Berlin on the Gendarmenmarkt across from the French Cathedral. It was built in 1705 by Giovanni Simonetti and was designed by Martin Grünberg. In 1785 Carl von Gontard modified the cathedral and built the domed tower.

The Deutscher Dom was completely destroyed in World War II and was subsequently rebuilt from 1977 to 1988. The cathedral was updated and reopened in 1996 as a Museum of German History
