German Enigma machine

German Enigma machine (StreetView)
The Germans used the encryption machine starting in the early 1920's to encipher and protect commercial, diplomatic and military communications. The Polish were the first to break the codes in 1932. The machine was tweaked to make breaking codes increasingly hard, but codes were broken again in 1939 during World War II.

This picture is found in the WWII Museum. This is a photo sphere.
