Gertrude Maxwell is founder, past president and lifetime chairman of Save-A-Pet, Inc., Illinois (August 28, 1972), Founder and president of Save-A-Pet Florida, Inc. (July 12, 1984) and founder, chairman and Director of the National Save-A-Pet Foundation, Inc. (December 23, 1994).

Save-A-Pet humane organizations founded by Gertrude Maxwell are not-for-profit, volunteer, humane organizations dedicated to saving abandoned, discarded, homeless and lost pets not claimed or adopted. They do not and will never practice Animal Euthanasia. Spaying and Neutering of pets are advocated as humane answers to pet overpopulation problems.
