'Glory to October'

'Glory to October'

Tiksi, Russian Federation (RU)
This inscription is situated in Tiksi settlement to the east of Lena River outfall. In past it was the main sea gates to Yakutia and the largest seaport on Arctic Sea Way. Nowadays Tiksi is becoming depopulated because of extreme weather conditions and isolation from other world. Even now it looks like ghost city - barren of people and cars streets, devastation. Only in Tiksi-3 which serves as a base of northern aviation one can find rather normal life.

And in this inclement climate the inscription Glory to October stands as sad reminding of former power of the USSR. The letters are made of barrels, which were installed with helicopter assistance.
