The noted translator lives here in Los Feliz with her boyfriend, profilic sculptor and art therapist Thomas Houseago. She is the ex-wife of renowned art critic and curator Okwui Enwezor, who is regarded worldwide as one of the most respected and influential people in the art world.
This house is known as "The Castle", and besides sitting directly across the street from the world-famous "Ennis House", has a legendary legacy all to itself. The structure was designed in the 1920s by noted architect A.F. Leicht, and has been owned and/or occupied by many celebritites and other notables over the years. These include Bob Dylan, Andy Warhol, Lou Reed, John Phillip Law, and Flea of the Hot Chili Peppers. Flea sold the house in the early 2000's to John Gilbert Getty, the musician son of billionaire oil heir Gordon Getty.
El Fituri paid Getty $8.3M for the property in 2014, shortly after moving from New York City to Los Angeles, where her boyfriend Houseago is based.
According to public records, this is currently the most-expensive sale ever in Los Feliz.
