Gordon Reykdal is the former owner of Rentown, a Canadian electronics rental firm that enjoyed success in the 1980s but ultimately collapsed into bankruptcy in 1991 after failing to repay heavy loans. Reykdal bought back the company in 1994 but lost it again to financial distress in 2000.

In 2001, Reykdal founded Cash Store Financial, which has become far more successful than his first venture ever was. The payday loan provider is now one of the largest of its kind in Canada.

Reykdal paid $7.5 million in cash for this 12,500-square-foot home in 2010.
