Harold Chasen's House (Harold & Maude Film Location)

Hillsborough, California (CA), US
This house was used for the interiors and exteriors of Harold Chasen's home in the film Harold & Maude. The 1971 cult classic, directed by Hal Ashby, stars Bud Cort and Ruth Gordon as Harold and Maude, it also features music by Cat Stevens. The butler in the film was in fact the real butler to the family who owned and lived in the house at the time of filming. In the script, he was the one who was supposed to drop the lemonade on the floor, but he refused to do it. So the scene was rewritten to have Harold's mother drop it.
